General Studies, A.S.

Associate of Science students who have not picked a more traditional degree program will choose two Focus Areas from the following list of options in order to provide structure to their studies while also providing them with the flexibility to explore a number of disciplines that they are interested in. Students must complete two focus areas.

To qualify for an Associate of Science degree students must complete two Associate of Science focus areas. The following focus areas are considered Associate of Science: Biology, Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Exercise Science, Information Systems, Mathematics & Statistics, Outdoor Recreation, and Physics.

First Semester


Subtotal: 13


In addition to ENGL 1010 , students may be required to also take ENGL 1011  (2 credits) due to placement, adding 2 additional credits to their graduation total.

Second Semester


Subtotal: 16


Third Semester


Subtotal: 16


Fourth Semester


Subtotal: 15


Focus Areas


Business


A minimum of nine (9) credits from the following categories:

  • Accounting (ACCT)
  • Business Administration (BADM)
  • Business (BUSN)
  • Economics (ECON)
  • Decision Science (DSCI)
  • Finance (FIN)
  • Management (MGT)
  • Marketing (MKT)

Chemistry


A minimum of eight (8) credits from the following list:

Computer Science


A minimum of nine (9) credits from the following categories:

  • Computer Science (COSC)
  • Software Development (SDEV)
  • Internet Technology (INET)

Engineering


A minimum of nine (9) Engineering (ES) credits.

Exercise Science


A minimum of eight (8) credits from the following categories:

  • Kinesiology (KIN)
  • Health Education (HLED)

Information Systems


A minimum of nine (9) credits from any of the following categories:

  • Computer and Information Systems (CIS)
  • Computer Applications (CMAP)
  • Cybersecurity (SCEC)
  • Information Management (IMGT)
  • Medical Insurance Coding (MEDC)

Mathematics & Statistics


A minimum of nine (9) credits from the following list:

Outdoor Recreation


A minimum of nine (9) Outdoor Recreation (OEAC) credits. 

Physics


A minimum of eight (8) Physics (PHYS) credits.

Total Credit Hours: 60
