DESL 1590 - Heavy Duty Power Trains

This course is designed to introduce the students to the fundamentals, theory, and applications of heavy-duty drivetrains. The course will cover all components of heavy-duty drivetrains, including twin disc clutches, twin countershaft manual transmissions, Allison and Caterpillar automatic transmissions, 5000 and 6000 series driveline components, and double and single reduction differentials. Methods of disassembly, repair, and diagnostics will be covered, as well as safe and correct procedures for removal and replacing these components in heavy-duty vehicles.
