The paramedic program is focused on the student who is interested in seeking a position as a Paramedic or other associated healthcare career fields initially upon graduation. Successful completion of the program allows the graduate to take the National Registry of EMT’s (NREMT) National Certification Examination for paramedic and apply to the State of Wyoming for licensure as a Paramedic. Upon licensure, the paramedic practices in settings where policies and procedures are specified, and guidance is available. The goal of Western Wyoming Community College is to educate competent beginning paramedic. The Paramedic is an allied health professional who can conduct invasive and pharmacological interventions. Possessing all the skills of the lower-level provider, Paramedics can also conduct a broader range of interventions based on skills that are harder to maintain and pose greater risk to patients if done incorrectly. Paramedic care is based on advanced assessment and formulating a field impression. Key core concepts of EMS education will be emphasized throughout the Paramedic Program.

  • In addition to ENGL 1010 , students may be required to also take ENGL 1011  due to placement, adding 2 additional credits to their graduation total.
  • To apply for fall admission students must complete all pre-requisites by the end of the spring semester.

  • Must be a licensed EMT in order to enroll in PTEP 2500  (see Intro to Paramedicine syllabus for more pre-requisite information)

  • Must successfully complete the previous Paramedic Course with a grade of B or better.
  • US & Wyoming Constitution can be fulfilled by HIST 1211 , HIST 1221 , HIST 1251 , or POLS 1000 .
