The goal of Western Wyoming Community College’s Nursing Program is to educate students to become competent beginning nurses. The nursing student will learn about professional nursing care for health promotion and multiple stages of illness through concept-based learning. Students are given opportunities to learn and practice nursing in skills and simulation laboratories and a variety of clinical settings. Successful completion of the Nursing Program allows the graduate to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nursing (NCLEX-RN). State licensure is required for employment as a registered nurse in Wyoming.

Outreach Opportunities for Associate Degree in Nursing

Western Wyoming Community College serves a significant number of students who live outside of the Rock Springs and Green River areas. To meet the needs of this diverse student population, the nursing program has several options for students to participate in the nursing curriculum.

The didactic portion of nursing courses is offered either face-to-face or via synchronous distance learning methods. Regardless of the didactic delivery modality, all students are required to attend clinical and laboratory experiences in person. There is no entirely online program option at this time.

All nursing students are required to travel at various times during the program. Some clinical experiences are available in outreach communities as resources are available. Class, lab, and clinical location offerings depend on student enrollment, faculty numbers, and physical resources to meet the learning objectives. Students will be required to travel to the Rock Springs campus each semester for lab and simulation experiences.

Any MATH higher than the required MATH course may be used to fulfill MATH 1400 .
To apply for fall admission, students must complete all prerequisites by the end of spring term.
All general education courses may be taken prior to admission into the nursing program.\
General education courses taken while in the nursing program must be taken in the evenings, on the internet, or in other asynchronous formats, with the exception of Human Anatomy & Physiology II. If A & P II is taken concurrently with NURS 1100 , it must be passed with a C or better by the end of the Nursing I semester for a student to be eligible to continue in the program.
Students must be admitted to the program to enroll in nursing courses.
