Pre-Pharmacy, A.S.

The Pre-Pharmacy emphasis at Western Wyoming Community College is designed for students seeking transfer to a 4-year university to continue education in pharmacy and/or a PharmD program. The Pre-Pharmacy program gives the student a solid foundation for transfer to a 4-year program and eventual acceptance into a PharmD program. You can find the various program outlines under the “Programs” section of the print and online catalogs.

The admission and program requirements at the institution to which the student wishes to transfer vary significantly and students should select their coursework and major area of study to best fit their educational goals and the requirements of target institutions. All Pre-Pharmacy majors need to develop these basic skills:

  1. Ability to find and evaluate scientific information.
  2. Ability to think critically.
  3. Ability to design and implement scientific experiments.
  4. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and competently.

A degree in Pre-Pharmacy from Western Wyoming Community College provides the dedicated student with a strong scientific background and the tools necessary to successfully pursue a degree in pharmacy or allied fields. The program is designed as a stepping stone and, while not directly preparing students for employment, will equip students with a foundation to pursue employment in areas of pharmacy, pharmacology, and toxicology.
