GIST 1080 - Intro to GPS and Maps

This course provides an introduction to the theory, practices, and usage of GPS mapping equipment. Laboratory work affords ample opportunity for the students, working in small groups, to practice with the GPS equipment used in the field. The collected data will be imported into a GIS-based software package. Commonly used coordinate systems, data, and projections will be reviewed.
