Degree Requirements



Requirements for the Associate of Arts and Associate of Science Degrees


Every student must complete a minimum of 60 semester hours of credit, which includes required General Education (Interstate Passport) credits as outlined below.

General Education Requirements:


A minimum of 30 general education credits are required. Specific courses that fulfill each category are listed under Interstate Passport . Courses must be completed with a C or better grade.

Western Experience - 1-2 credits


Oral Communication - 3 credits minimum


Written Communication - 3 credits minimum


Quantitative Literacy - 3 credits minimum


Natural Sciences - 4-8 credits minimum


Human Cultures - 3 credits minimum


Creative Expression - 3 credits minimum


Human Societies & the Individual - 3 credits minimum


Wyoming state law requires students to successfully complete a course in the United States and Wyoming Constitutions.

Critical Thinking - 3-7 credits


Total General Education Requirements - 30 credits


Major Area Coursework & Electives - 30 credits


Total Hours Required (minimum) - 60 credits


  • The cumulative Western Wyoming Community College grade point average must be a 2.00 or better in order to graduate.
  • Generally no courses taken from Western for “S/U” grades may be used as hours for graduation, except CLEP, credit by exam, military credit, and approved graduation S/U courses.
  • No coursework numbered less than 1000 will be applicable to any degree (example: MATH 0900 ).
  • At least 25% of the credits must be completed through Western Wyoming Community College.
  • Students may not receive credit for courses that are prerequisite to courses they have already completed.

Requirements for the Associate Degree in Nursing


Every student must complete the program, which totals 67 credits. Students must fulfill prerequisites and be accepted to the program. Program requirements are very specific and must be completed as listed. Successful completion of the program allows the graduate to take the National Council Licensure examination for registered nursing (NCLEX-RN). The major will appear on the diploma.

Requirements for the Associate of Applied Science Degree


Every student must complete a minimum of 60 semester hours of credit, which include required General Education credits as outlined below. 

 

General Education Requirements:


A minimum of 16 general education credits are required. Specific courses that fulfill each category are listed under Interstate Passport .

Western Experience - 1-2 credits


Written Communication - 6 credits minimum


Human Societies & the Individual - 3 credits minimum


Wyoming state law requires students to successfully complete a course in the United States and Wyoming Constitutions. 

Quantitative Literacy - 3 credits minimum


Computer Technology - 3 credits


Total General Education Requirements - 16 credits


Major Area Coursework & Electives - 44 credits


Total Hours Required (minimum) - 60 credits
